By combining your bookings, your non-diving friends can enjoy snorkeling, kayaking or just lazing in the sun while you explore the treasures beneath the sea. We also offer certified divers Dedicated Dives to some of the most spectacular and exhilarating dive sites in Banderas Bay and the Mexican Pacific.Islas marietas. Located near Punta Mita (North tip of the Bay), this archipelago consists of two large islands, shallow areas and a few rocklets. This Marine Protected Area (declared in 2005) and most recently Biosphere Reserva, houses over 90 different species of resident and migratory marine birds. Volcanic in origin, the barren islands show signs of erosion as multiple caves and caverns. The underwater diversity is one of the greatest within the Bay. Numerous species of mollusks, nudibranchs, sponges, echinoderms, gorgonians and sea fans, with significant hard coral coverage. The boat ride to this dive site is about 70 minutes.
Originally made famous by Jacques Cousteau in the 1970's, the Marietas Islands Marine Reserve has now become one of the most popular areas in Western Mexico for scuba diving. Part of an underwater mountain range that peaks above the ocean's surface, the Marietas Islands mark the entrance to Banderas Bay from the Pacific.
